Mario Longhi
President and CEO

Mario Longhi joined Gerdau in June 2005 as president of the company's North American operations. In January 2006, he was named chief executive officer (CEO) of Gerdau Long Steel North America. In the same year, Mr. Longhi became part of Gerdau Group's Executive Committee.

Under his leadership, Gerdau Long Steel North America launched a strong expansion that led the consolidation of the North American long steel industry with acquisitions of Sheffield Steel, Pacific Coast Steel, Chaparral Steel, Century Steel and many others. Today, Gerdau Long Steel North America is one of the largest mini-mill steel producers in North America, with annual manufacturing capacity of approximately 10 million metric tons of mill finished steel products. Through its vertically integrated network of mini-mills, scrap recycling facilities and downstream operations, the company serves customers throughout the U.S. and Canada, and exports many of its products throughout the world.

Mario Longhi also actively participates in steel industry and community organizations. From 2007 to 2009, he served as chairman of the Steel Manufactures Association (SMA) and he remains an active member. His other board memberships include the American Iron and Steel Institute, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Moffitt Cancer Center and United Way of Tampa Bay.

Prior to joining Gerdau, Mr. Longhi had a 23-year international career with the executive team at Alcoa, a global benchmark in the aluminum industry. He lived and ran businesses in many different countries and served as vice president on the Alcoa's Executive Committee and as president of the Group for Extruded and Final Products.

Mr. Longhi holds a metallurgical engineering degree with a specialty in nonferrous metallurgy from Escola de Engenharia Mauá in São Paulo, Brazil.

 
Andre Pires
Vice President of Finance

André Pires serves as vice president of finance for Gerdau Long Steel North America. In this role, he is responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, risk management, expense management and shared services.

Mr. Pires has more than 20 years of experience in international business activities. He began his career in 1988 as a research analyst at Banco Geral do Comercio in Brazil. Five years later, he moved to the United States, where he served as portfolio manager at Montgomery Asset Management in San Francisco, Calif. He returned to Brazil in 1994 to serve as the CEO of Brokerage at Banco Geral do Comercio and later worked at the Banco BBA Creditanstalt. His next position was to build business in Brazil for BNP Paribas, France's largest financial institution, where he served as managing director for their asset management division. Since joining Gerdau in 2004, he has worked as investment director of the corporate office in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and treasurer of the company's North American operations.

Mr. Pires earned a degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Fundação Getulio Vargas in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

 
Jim Kerkvliet
Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Jim Kerkvliet serves as Gerdau Long Steel North America's vice president of sales & marketing. In this role, he is responsible for all domestic mill sales operations, international commercial sales operations and commercial marketing.

Mr. Kerkvliet has more than 25 years experience in the international steel realm and possesses vast knowledge of international and North American sales strategy. Prior to his current position, he held various senior leadership positions throughout his career, including general manager for the company's downstream non-fabrication operations. Before joining Gerdau, he worked within the leadership of companies such as Cargill Ferrous International and Cargill Steel & Wire, as well as being responsible for regional sales at North Star Steel.

Mr. Kerkvliet received his undergraduate degree from the College of St. Thomas in marketing management.

 
Robert E. Lewis
Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Robert E. Lewis serves as the company's vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. As chief legal officer, he is responsible for management of all legal matters, including reviewing all property and equipment leases and contracts, leading due-diligence efforts, and ensuring adherence to corporate governance and business integrity standards.

Mr. Lewis has 26 years of legal experience, and served as senior vice president/general counsel and secretary for Eckerd Corporation prior to joining the Company. He was formerly an attorney and shareholder with the Tampa law firm of Shackleford, Farrior, Stallings & Evans, P.A.

A graduate in accounting from the University of Florida, Mr. Lewis earned his law degree with honors from the university in 1985. He has been a member of the Florida Bar and American Bar Association since 1985.

 
Matthew Yeatman
Vice President of Raw Materials

Matthew Yeatman serves as vice president of raw materials for Gerdau Long Steel North America. In this role, he is responsible for all raw materials purchases of scrap and iron substitutes. He is also responsible for the company's recycling division, which includes 17 scrap processing operations in the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Yeatman has 26 years of experience as part of Gerdau and its predecessor companies. He held several operational and commercial positions in the raw materials divisions prior to his current role.

Mr. Yeatman was born and educated in Ontario, Canada.

 
Carl Czarnik
Vice President of Human Resources

Carl Czarnik serves as Gerdau Long Steel North America's vice president of human resources. Through more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles, he gained a floor-to-ceiling knowledge of personnel management within the steel industry.

Mr. Czarnik began his career in steel as a management trainee with North Star Steel in Monroe, Mich. He held various positions in a wide array of steel functions including melt shop operations, casting and works management prior to entering into a senior management position as a plant manager. Since joining Gerdau in 2004, he has served as vice president and general manager at the steel mill in Wilton, Iowa, and vice president and regional manager of several locations. He accepted his current position in 2009.

In addition to his extensive steel industry experience, Mr. Czarnik served as an executive officer in the U.S. Army for seven years during which he served in active duty in the first Gulf War.

Mr. Czarnik received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.

 
Yuan Wang
Vice President of Mill Operations

Yuan Wang serves Gerdau Long Steel North America as vice president of mill operations. In his role, he is responsible for ensuring that all mills across the company operate efficiently and improve continuously. He is also in charge of the integration and implementation of the Gerdau Business System and the development of quality systems.

Mr. Wang has more than 20 years of experience within Gerdau. His career started in Riograndense, Brazil, in March 1987. He has worked across a broad range of steel operations including scrap, melt shop, casting and refractory operations, and numerous business operation support systems.

Prior to joining the executive team of Gerdau Long Steel North America, Mr. Wang held various senior level positions including senior process engineer, plant operations manager, vice president and general manager of the company's Manitoba Rolling Mill and executive director & chief representative for Gerdau's special steel operations in Shanghai, China.

Mr. Wang has worked for Gerdau in operations in Brazil, Canada, China and the U.S.. He is fluent in English, Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese.

Mr. Wang is a graduate of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, where he majored in metallurgical engineering.

 
Peter Campo
Vice President of Downstream Operations

Peter Campo serves as Gerdau Long Steel North America's vice president of downstream operations. He is responsible for the company's rebar fabrication, rail products, wire products and Bright Bar businesses.

Dr. Campo joined Gerdau in May 2008 as the vice president of procurement and sales & operations planning. In this position, he was in charge of the development and execution of the company's supply chain processes. In March 2010, he was named the vice president and general manager of rebar fabrication and led fabrication operations in the northern U.S.

Prior to joining Gerdau, Dr. Campo worked for General Electric for 18 years in global roles in research and development, manufacturing, engineering, quality, business development and supply chain management.

Dr. Campo holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree from Rice University. He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
