Gerdau Ameristeel offers an attractive, incentive-based pay system, where employees
have the opportunity to learn and progress. We also offer a wide range of benefits,
described in more detail below.
Flexible Benefits
Gerdau Ameristeel's Flexible Benefits Program enables employees to select many of their
benefits from a wide variety of choices. This allows them to choose the right level of
coverage for themselves and their family and take advantage of the opportunity for tax
savings when paying for this coverage. The Flexible Benefits Program provides employees
with "benefit dollars" to use toward the purchase of benefit coverage. Some of the benefits
included in the Flexible Benefits Program are:
Medical Benefits
Gerdau Ameristeel offers a comprehensive medical plan, including vision prescription
drug coverage.
Dental Benefits
Under the Flexible Benefits Program, Gerdau Ameristeel employees can choose from either
a traditional fee-for-service dental PPO option, or a prepaid dental plan using network
dentists, or employees may elect no coverage at all.
Life Insurance
All Gerdau Ameristeel employees are covered by a basic life and accidental death and
dismemberment insurance program. Supplemental life insurance and dependent life insurance
are also available for purchase.
Flexible Spending Account
These accounts allow employees to pay eligible health and dependent day care expenses
with tax-free dollars from their pay. By making contributions to the account with
tax-free dollars from their pay, their taxable income is reduced.
